I will continue the topic of discussion of large Internet companies in Ukraine. In my last article, I spoke about the Internet Invest holding , today I will try to say something new about the largest Internet media holding in Ukraine - bigmir.net ”href =“ bigmir.net ”> Bigmir Internet.
About 250,000 unique visitors visit the holding's sites daily. It is part of the media holding KP Media, where, in addition to Internet portals, there are a number of print publications: Correspondent, Pink, 15 minutes, etc. By the way, “15 minutes” is the most profitable newspaper in Ukraine, although it is absolutely free. Despite the fact that the holding has many print publications, the main income comes from Bigmir-Internet. According to estimates, Bigmir-Internet will earn in 2007 $ 2-2.5 million on online advertising.
Many scandals in the Internet are associated with Bigmir, primarily related to the rating: exclusion of participants, withdrawal from the rating of large sites, opening statistics, cheating, etc. A few years ago, a team of leading programmers left Bigmere and organized the I.UA portal, which is based on the same code as Bigmere. Often Bigmir appears with news about hacking a site, with the aim of stealing ICQ accounts - Bigmir is the official representative of ICQ in Ukraine. Although the company is very large, they do not pay so much here. That is why the company has a sufficiently large staff turnover. But, no matter what, Bigmir remains the leader among Ukrainian Internet holdings, and continues to grow, although it does not show any particular innovations. By the way, faster than his closest pursuer UKR.NET.
The composition of the team is pretty standard: programmers, designers, layout designers, project managers, content managers. A total of about 50-60 people. There is an interesting position among them - a web architect. This is a web surfer who surfs the Internet in search of new features and capabilities. Once I wanted to get there, but the salary did not suit me. The atmosphere is very friendly: every night after six, the battle in Counter-Strike is established, and several ordered pizzas are eaten.
