Android Developer Union

Android developers, unite! Defend your rights! The organizers of the new union ( The Android Developers Union ), who have seven requirements for Google to change the working conditions of the Android Market, appeal to everyone with this appeal .

    1. Cancel the 32% Google app tax.

    2. Correct the effect of “entry points” (now Android Market can be viewed only through two lists: Most Recent and Top Selling).

    3. Open bug tracking.

    4. An increase in payment methods (in the first two years of the market’s existence, there was only one option: Google Checkout).

    5. Clear rules and a description of the appeal process for removing the application.

    6. Direct contact with the Android Market development team.

    7. Transparency of the algorithms (since the Market source codes are closed, it is not entirely clear how the search functions should actually work, why the application does not always fall into the Most Recent list, and how the Featured Apps list is compiled). We require Google to explain the algorithms behind these functions, because they directly affect the conditions of our work.

According to union leaders, meeting these requirements will significantly improve the working environment for Android Market developers, as well as improve the ecosystem and provide better conditions for users.

“If our conditions are not met, we will move our applications to alternative platforms, we will use other more open platforms instead of Android, we will dissuade other developers from creating Android products and we will work tirelessly to destroy any statements by Google about the openness of this platform,” said in a statement.
