Chrome 10 first beta released

Google Inc. yesterday announced the release of the first beta version of its Chrome 10 browser. As always, the new version of the browser has undergone changes and improvements - this time the Javascript engine has been optimized. Beta has already been tested by Computerworld experts who have obtained an interesting result: the first beta of Chrome 10 performs script processing 64% faster. Of course, all these results should be treated with a certain degree of caution - after all, if you add up all these percent of accelerations obtained by researching previous versions of the browser, it turns out that Chrome should already be able to perform all kinds of operations instantly. True, testing Chrome 10 using WebKit Sun Spider did not show any significant improvements.

Rather, an improvement in speed compared to Chrome 9 that is, 0.1%, but this is a vanishingly small amount that is unlikely to be noticeable to the average user. It is worth recalling that Google Chrome and Apple Safari are based on WebKit. This open source project is very popular among browser developers.

By the way, the new beta has the long-announced Google technology Crankshaft, expanding the capabilities of V8 JavaScript. The corporation first announced the Crankshaft back in December last year.

In addition, you can’t ignore such improvements as the new hardware video acceleration platform, built-in password synchronization system, automatic disabling of obsolete plug-ins, and some other goodies. The developers of the browser claim that the new hardware-accelerated video platform uses the capabilities of graphic chips, which now take on part of the computational burden.

By the way, Chrome 10 automatically synchronizes bookmarks, applications, settings, extensions and passwords - so users using Chrome on different PCs should be satisfied.
