Officials will switch to free software
December 17, Putin V.V. signed the decree “On the plan for the transition of federal executive bodies and federal budgetary institutions to use free software (2011 - 2015)”
The transition plan includes 3 groups of measures for the transition to free software:

PS perhaps such a decision was influenced by the Open Public Letter to the President of Russia , which was mentioned on the hub, in particular, it contained a requirement under No. 1 for the transfer of all state institutions to open source software.

- Arrangements for the organizational transition of federal executive bodies to the use of free software

- The study of possible forms (methods) and prospects of state support for Russian developers participating in international projects for the development of free software that can be used for the needs of federal executive bodies
- Creation and maintenance of a single free software repository used by federal executive bodies
