The future of digital books. IDEO Version

It is strange that this was not mentioned on the hub Especially in the blog "e-books." It seems to me an interesting topic.

So, last week, IDEO (a fairly well-known consultant in the field of design and innovation), uploaded a 5-minute video, where it presented its vision of the future of electronic books.

This is a picture for seed. The video itself under the cut

Actually, what is interesting about this video? Firstly, it is noticeable that IDEO puts tablets on a multi-touch, and not on black and white readers. Secondly, company analysts deviate very strongly towards the social component, endowing the e-book reader with the functions of a social network. Thirdly ... Actually, why should I list in vain, let's see with our own eyes.

UPD: If for some reason you can’t watch this video, hereThere is a small storyboard with interesting points and a more detailed description.

I warn you right away, the video is large (about 70 megabytes), but very interesting.

For those who didn’t watch the video or follow the link, I’ll give the key principles of the IDEO approach:

    1. IDEO considers three different reader roles: Nelson, Coupland and Alice.
    2. Nelson is a criticism tool. You can always see which books are being discussed at the moment, and, as an option, which particular statements of the authors cause lively discussions.
    3. Coupland - a social network of bibliophiles. You can see what your contacts are reading and, accordingly, recommend something to friends. The most curious in this part seemed to be able to track the popularity of specific books on a world map. Here I would use this visualization tool with pleasure.
    4. Alice - Augmented Reality for individual books. The video shows how the owner picks up the tablet on a specific page and reveals a hidden secret. The coordinates of the reader are immediately determined and a special adventure or hidden chapter becomes available to him.
