Robot PR2 learned to hold fragile objects

Student Joe Romano developed a tactile feedback system for the open source robot PR2 (produced by Willow Garage startup ), so now he won’t accidentally break a person if he decides to shake his hand. The system works thanks to standard sensors in the clamping clamps PR2.

Of course, other robot developers can download the created library for free, like other parts of the free Robot Operating System .

We add that PR2 is already equipped with other security systems, including a collision avoidance system, but tactile feedback is a big improvement.
