The main chips madVR include:
- smooth motion rendering in the frame (smooth motion rendering)
- high quality color sampling (chroma upsampling)
- high quality conversion YCbCr -> RGB,
- high-quality video scaling algorithms (bicubic, mitchell, lanczos, spline etc)
- spectrum and contrast correction for different types of monitors (gamut & gamma correction)
- GPU video processing in 16 bit lossless mode
As I mentioned, MPC HC has been supporting madVR for quite some time, as well as KmPlayer and Zoom Player.
All you need to try this video renderer in action is to unzip the downloaded zip file (link to download the latest version) to a separate folder and install by clicking on install.bat.
After that, in the settings (Settings-Play-Output), select madVR.
Settings for madVR itself are available after starting the video and right-clicking Filters-madVRRenderer. Everything works fine for me with the default settings, but if desired, there are a lot of options there to adjust to your taste and power of the video card.
Discussion madVR, wishes for the developer and bug reports can be left in a special branchon the Doom9 forum. There on the first page you can see a comparison in quality with competitors.
