Paratrooper day

    Good afternoon habravchane!

I hasten to congratulate you all on a wonderful holiday - the day of the paratrooper. On this day, August 2, 1930, near Voronezh, for the first time, a unit of 12 people was parachuted. I will make a reservation right away that I did not serve in the Airborne Forces, but I have a weakness for parachuting, in addition, my mother, at the time, trained these same paratroopers, in the amount of 120 people - so I think it's fair to cover a little this wonderful topic on the hub, to agitate and explain why parachuting is useful for people in general, and for IT specialists in particular.

    New Horizons
Everything is simple here - parachuting, your horizon is expanding both literally and figuratively. At an altitude of 1000 or 4000 meters, the visibility range is significantly higher than the standard 16 kilometers. In addition, a lot of different thoughts will visit your head in a short period of time, which is a good training of your brain activity. No, it workers do not need to come up with a new bike every day, but fresh thoughts rarely get in the way.

    Fighting Fear
One of the effective ways to fight fear is to do what you are afraid of (take a phone from an unfamiliar beauty / get an increase in RFP / go to the dentist, etc.) In addition, I will share one impression from my own experience: as a rule, fear is the expectation of what afraid - waiting for the moment of fear. And rarely when this moment lasts a long time. We kind of wait for a long time for fear, then it quickly comes - and immediately leaves. It is rare that fear itself lasts long enough to realize it. But in a free fall, it can last 10 and 20 seconds, it is fear itself, and during this time it is time to understand that you can consciously act in any situation, even when you are very scared. Fighting your inner fears helps a lot for a positive life and productive work.

    An additional degree of freedom
Can you imagine a person who has never plunged into water? That is, he never swam, nor bathed, nor took a bath. Only a shower - in order to be clean. Now try to explain to this person what swimming is. Explaining what flying is is just as difficult. If we turn to physics, then this is +1 degrees of freedom. And this is only a bodily +1. The mental degrees of freedom in a person’s head are unlimited. Try to come up with an analogy for it.

    Acceptance of responsibility
Yes, parachute technology has reached perfection. Yes, the probability of opening the main parachute is 99.9% and the reserve is 99.9999%. Yes, your parachute has a sipher or widget installed that will automatically open a backup parachute for you, even in the event of a complete loss of consciousness (scared / hit / otherwise). But parachuting is a risk. And at this risk you can only go fully aware of it. Responsibility for your actions, your work and your life - only you bear. No evil / kind uncles / aunts in any way relieve you of responsibility. This is especially understood in the sky.

    Crystal clarity of thought
Last weekend - one person, parachuting for the first time, answered the question of how you felt: Crystal clarity of thought!
This is perhaps the most accurate wording I have ever heard - and I completely agree with her. Moreover, this clarity lingers in the head for a few more days - after the first jump, and for several hours - after the next.

    Where to start?
If my agitation had a positive effect on someone, then I hasten to please you, there are a lot of places for parachuting around the world. Jump Zone - Drop Zone. Google to the rescue. If you want, I’ll tell you more in detail in the comments or in PM. I also note that I am a novice parachutist - a request by the bison of parachuting not to judge too harshly.

Funny video - winning the international festival in Kolomna. Shot in Maisky, where I jump. I’m not on the video because it’s still very green.
