Readers do not want to pay for the electronic Times
As we recall, on July 2, the oldest British newspaper, The Times, switched to a new model of work. The publication website has become paid. Tariff plans: 1 pound per day or 2 pounds per week.
Despite the skepticism of experts who warned that the audience would simply go to alternative free resources, the newspaper was optimistic. And now 17 days have passed, i.e. almost three weeks. Bottom line:
150 thousand people signed up for a free trial period.
For one of the tariff plans, 15 thousand
Of the last 12 500 people are the owners of the iPad.
For comparison, the average data on the circulation of Times for May: 515,379 copies. weekdays, 1 117 749 copies. weekends.
Total: the site’s audience was lost (two weeks before the introduction of the paid mode, it fell by 60%), pennies were collected. The experiment continues.
