WordPress 3.0 “Thelonious”

The thirteenth version of WordPress, the culmination of six months of work of 218 participants, is currently available for download (or updates in the admin panel)) What's new in this release: A new default theme called “Twenty Ten.” A new API for those topics allows developers to easily implement their own background, headers, menus (without editing template files). Developers and site owners will appreciate the long-awaited merger of WordPress and WordPress MU: the creation of new multi-sites will allow you to launch one blog or 10 million blogs from a single installation. As a user, you will love the new easy interface, contextual help. 1217 bugs fixed, additional functionality, an update mechanism introduced, it will update 15 plugins with one click and much, much more ... Future

I would have to say here that we are going to start work on 3.1, but this is not so. We are going to get away from a series of new versions in order to focus on what is connected with WordPress. The growth of the community is breathtaking, including over 10.3 million downloads of version 2.9, but so much of our efforts has been focused on the "core" WordPress that there was not enough time for everything else. Over the next three months, we will be divided into ninja / pirate teams focused on various areas related to WordPress, such as: Codex, forums, profiles, updates and API compatibility, the topics section, the plugins section, email lists, core plugins, wordcamp.org ... the possibilities are endless. The goal of these groups will not be to improve everything at once, but simply to do something better than today. We believe,
