Real-time sunlight - a planet in real time on the desktop

Once upon a time there was something similar for MS Windows, but it was long ago and not so beautiful, besides under Windows. Now there is such a thing for Ubuntu that I was extremely pleased. This program displays on your desktop a map of the World (very similar to images from space) and sunlight, which at the moment, illuminates part of the planet. This is essentially a Quirky Wallpaper with a very user-friendly GUI.

There are four types of expanded maps. I liked the first one most of all: There is also the opportunity to see the planet in the form of hemispheres: And even observe the phases of the moon (the image is square, you need to make the desktop background black) And the last utility is the ability to autostart. Images are taken from here and updated with a certain frequency.

While I was taking screenshots, I was told the most pleasant news - a repository for Ubuntu of this decoration for the desktop appeared. Now for the installation you do not need to build it from the source. To install: Thank you for your attention. UPD.: The speed of the system is practically not affected. May slightly affect the speed of "tyrnet" at the time of loading a new image. UPD2 .: I completely forgot. Based on these three articles .
