New Mortal Kombat - details and video
Warner Bros. Publisher and NetherRealm studio revealed some details of the new part of the popular Mortal Kombat series. The game is simply named - Mortal Kombat, it will be released next year on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
NetherRealm Studio, responsible for the development of the new Mortal Kombat, is headed by Ed Boon, one of the "fathers" of the series. And it has already been announced that in terms of management the game will be classic - two-dimensional. But the graphics, of course, will be modern and three-dimensional - a new graphics engine is being developed specifically for this project.
Naturally, the developers promise a lot of game modes: standard duels, team fights and a fashionable “cooperative”. Ed Boone claims that the game will be extremely fierce and will have "the deepest story mode of all fighting games."
Judging by the video released along with the announcement, the game is returning to its glorious origins, and thanks to the high-quality graphics, the “fatalities” really became even bloodier.
The first Mortal Kombat was released during the reign of Street Fighter 2 and was very different from the numerous clones of this fighting game - instead of hand-drawn cartoon graphics, Mortal Kombat used sprites made from digitized video with live actors. It was the realistic graphics and deliberate cruelty that made Mortal Kombat popular and famous around the world, and the cruel pushing (Fatality) of defeated opponents became a real hallmark of the series.
Mortal Kombat 4 converted the series to 3D, replacing the digitized fighters with polygon models. In all, Midway developed and released ten games in the series, and starting with the eleventh part, Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe, Midway developed them under the wing of Warner Brothers.
At the beginning of last year, Midway was forced to declare bankruptcy, but this planned to continue to release games. In the summer of the same year, part of the company's assets was acquired by the publisher Warner Bros ... And, as recently reported , the Midway bankruptcy procedure went into the final stage and the once popular gaming publisher becomes history.
Fortunately, the story of Mortal Kombat continues!
