The virtual world and the real world work the same way

    Read by Nikollo Machiavelli (1469-1527).
I watched how they play in World of Warcraft.

    I thought. About what?
"War ... War never changes ..." © Fallout.

I myself do not play WOW, but I watched how, at a distance from several strong heroes, a handful of weak players followed, picking up artifacts that were no longer interesting first. A sort of looting on the battlefield. Do you think this is something new and caused by the specifics of the game world? Nothing like this.

Machiavelli, in his book On Military Art, written around 1500, writes that troops are always followed by crowds for profit and trade.

In other sources they are called "ribo". Ribot - a tramp or a beggar, following the army with the goal of robbery.

However, sometimes the crowd in WOW can provide some help to strong players, as it is on their side. Also, it happened with a crowd of people, as Machiavelli refers to an example described by Josephus in the book "The Jewish War." Although I suspect that, as in WOW, it’s more about finishing off the remnants of enemies than about heroism. :)

And I will make a conclusion from this observation. WOW and similar games create the virtual world extremely well, since the same social phenomena arise in it as in the real world. I think there are plenty of other examples. Although the world is virtual and the values are virtual, all the same human interaction is formed and the same processes.
