Drag and Drop to insert pictures

Not so long ago, the functionality of attaching files to letters via Drag'n'drop was announced . The other day, the GMail team expanded this feature by adding the ability to attach pictures directly to the message body by dragging and dropping files.

Previously, it was also possible to add pictures by including the corresponding function in Labs. However, experience shows that drag and drop is much more convenient.

This functionality works so far only in the Google Chrome browser (for the first time, the GMail feature works only in Chrome. Can it still be in Safari? I have not tested it), but most likely in the near future this functionality will be added to Firefox. To add pictures, the letter, of course, must be in Rich text format.

The image is uploaded to the GMail server as an attachment. After adding, a resizing plate appears, which, unlike similar functionality in blogger.com, does not change the actual size of the image, or rather does not substitute a reduced copy, but simply sets the size for the img tag. This is both a plus and a minus at the same time. Of course, I would like GMail to make a thumbnail with an increase to the original by click, but this would increase the amount of information stored on GMail servers.

Well, the last spoon of tar: an attempt to drag a few pictures at once will not lead to anything. In general, the GMail team still has work to do.
