Garibaldi Project - Using Surface in Education
The video shows an example of Microsoft Surface deployed in an educational institution. Brown University, in collaboration with Microsoft Research and the British Library, introduced Surface desks in the institution and participated in the development of the Garibaldi project.
The Garibaldi project is a project of digitizing a monumental canvas and creating an infrastructure for working with digitized material using the Touch-capabilities of Surface. The video, closer to the middle, demonstrates in detail all the features of the project.
It looks very interesting. Materials that were previously stored under locks and were available only through small reproductions can now be viewed in detail. Let me remind you that in Russia a project was also introduced to digitize materials in the library named after Yeltsin, on the site of which you can find many historical documents digitized and available for study in detail.
