The termination of the provision of services of the company "Makhost
Over the past month, the Oversan-Mercury company received a lot of attention and positive feedback from the Habraludy, publishing detailed information about its data center and the process of its construction. Therefore, it is here, on Habré, that we would like to explain why the Oversan-Mercury company is forced to suspend the provision of services to the Makhost company.
In its desire to change the bleak situation in the market of data centers and hosting in our country, Oversan-Mercury found an opportunity to build a truly outstanding data center and offer its services primarily to young, promising companies that can bring the market to a new one level. One of these companies was the company "Makhost" (in the past - McHost).
In the spring of 2009, the Makhost company moved its server park to our data center. The specialists of Oversan-Mercury helped Makhost to implement some of the services that are in demand on the market by optimizing server equipment, designing and laying out special SCS, and introducing Anti-DDoS services. Having gained access to duplicated trunk channels with a capacity of up to 70 Gb / s, and passing them off as their own, Makhost launched a large-scale advertising campaign. Within its framework, among other possibilities, customers were attracted by the offer of free unlimited traffic. At the same time, the details of the Makhost business model were not disclosed, and the origin of such favorable conditions remained unknown to customers.
Providing full data center and data transfer services, Oversan-Mercury billed Maxhost invoices for payment. Timely and full payment of bills was not made, however, having a certain margin of trust in a promising partner who was actively building up its client base, Oversan-Mercury did not demand immediate payment for the services rendered. Only thanks to the friendly attitude of our partners, including Internet providers, we managed to avoid conflict situations and maintain the ability to continue full-fledged work. The credit of trust was also strengthened by the fact that earlier the “Host” company collaborated with the data center of the well-known Synterra company. However, in the end, having made several incomplete payments, the Makhost company completely stopped paying to the Oversan-Mercury company.
For more than six months, despite repeated warnings and attempts to resolve the situation by Oversan-Mercury, Makhost did not pay for the services provided, while simultaneously attracting customers. Any attempts to rectify the situation, mitigate their guilt, or at least develop an action plan to break the deadlock, were not undertaken by Makhost. The final date for the demonstration of goodwill and the desire to find a compromise was set on April 1. Makhost did not react to this date, probably considering the demands made as an April Fool’s joke.
The last straw that overflowed our patience was the information that Makhost was looking for a new data center to host its server park. It was aggravated by the fact that, according to information received from Synterra, when moving to our data center, Makhost also did not pay for the services provided. It became obvious that it could not continue like this.
As a result of the actions of the “Makhost” company, its customers who believed in “really free traffic” became hostages of the current situation.
In the light of recent events related to hosting companies in Russia, Oversan-Mercury would like to draw attention to the efforts made to prevent the marching services from being stopped. I would also like to emphasize that the decision to terminate the provision of services to the “Host” company was caused by its refusal to fulfill its obligations.
We inform you that in the near future there will be a cessation of the provision of services to the Makhost company. This will entail the suspension of access to sites and services hosted at the facilities of this company.
