Back to the Future
I remember when I watched this film for the first time, it completely conquered me, for my 10 years it was something extraordinary, especially the machine ... mmmm, the usual DeLorean. When, after some time, they showed me the second part of this best-selling movie, I remember that I was ready to sell my brother to a friend from the yard as a slave (he boasted that his father was driving such a car). We were all children, and in my opinion everyone dreamed of such a car. These were those holy moments when it was possible to endlessly discuss the benefits of a time machine, accompanied by all the sounds vzhzhzhzh and the emotional movement of the hands.

A few years later, when I grew up, the feeling of admiration for this car did not pass, and I climbed the Internet in search of the truth.
It turned out that this is not a car specially invented for films, but a really existing model. It was developed by John Zachariah De Lorian, an American process engineer. He assembled the first prototype in 1976. After several years of searching for a factory for the production of machines and several design ideas, De Lorian placed production in Northern Ireland. The first serial machine DeLorean DMC-12 left the hands of the master on January 21, 1981.

The 2.8-liter engine with 130 horses and not just horses “stand Marusya aside”, but with real wild mustangs from the prairies of North America, allowed to disperse the monster to 100 km / h in 10.5 seconds. At that time it was gorgeous, and now it’s not so bad. The form factor of the Seagull Wing machine did not seem something out of this reality, which is why the car won the hearts of motorists around the world. By the way, the platform for the car was developed by the British company Lotus.

But fate always surprises those who try hard. A year later, De Lorian was accused of drug trafficking, the trial lasted almost two years. From this, the company almost went bankrupt, the plant closed, and commercial looters were slowly taking away property. In three years only 8583 cars were produced.

It was then that Hollywood saved the situation. Robert Zemeckis, who directed the movie Back to the Future, suggested using DeLorean as a prototype of a time machine. After the release of the film, the car became incredibly popular.

25 years later, in 2007, Stephen Wynn bought all the spare parts and founded the Texas company DeLorean Motor Company, which began to produce and restore the still popular car.

The cost of a dream is 57 thousand green presidents. Which, for good, is not so expensive, because all the cars that will be assembled, and spare parts are left somewhere for 500 cars, will be assembled manually.

By the way, it is curious, maybe someone from the Habr-users realized a dream and bought this miracle?
