On March 1, a beta version of the new web service for learning English was born - LinguaLeo.ru.

The service allows you to master English through video, audio and texts created by native speakers. It uses convenient tools for mastering new words in context. The service was created for people who want to quickly develop listening comprehension of live English speech and increase their vocabulary.

LinguaLeo is based on 5 effective principles of language learning: motivation to learn; perception of a living language; copying native speakers; regularity; optimal intensity.

The user quickly expands vocabulary and listening comprehension through the development of interesting multimedia content and memorizing words in context.



After a simple registration, LinguaLeo.ru will offer to indicate the current level of English proficiency. You can specify the intensity mode or the time to reach the target level. The service also recommends the amount of daily activity for learning a language and displays it in a hunger monitor. The total volume of the path traveled can be seen in the progress indicator, which is always in sight.

All users receive their own personal pet. His name is LinguaLev. It requires daily care and nutrition. He himself says what he wants to do: to master new content, train words, etc.

On the site you will find a whole collection of video, audio recordings and texts in the original. Clips, videos, presentations, reports, audio books - all in English.
All content is easily filtered and sorted by format, difficulty level, volume and topics of interest. Each user can add their content to the Jungle - a collection of English-language content. When you read the text, you can translate unfamiliar words in one click and see the translation of entire phrases, highlighting them in the text. A context dictionary of the translated words and phrases is created next to the text (the service uses a statistical user dictionary-translator).



New words and phrases fall into the personal dictionary along with the context of their use. For lasting memorization, there are three levels of the word trainer. After passing the first level, the words fall on the second, and then on the third, and after that they are firmly remembered and replenish the vocabulary.
For convenience, you can mark any page with the status of "mastered". This helps you easily find where you left off, repeat the mastered content, or select a new one.



Each LinguaLeo page has a so-called “compass”. He suggests a methodology for learning the language and gives tips on using the functionality of the service. The service calculates the activity for the development of content and words, the passage of simulators and records statistics in the development log. It also shows progress and predicts the time to reach the target level.
