Robonaut 2 Space Robot

Ten years after the first project, NASA and DARPA presented the second prototype of the astronaut robot. The task of Robonaut 2 is to replace a person during spacewalks, as well as to carry out repair work in depressurized compartments. Theoretically, an android should copy the movements of a human operator, but practically this is not very good at it. Nevertheless, the new model is much faster and stronger than the first prototype. In particular, the maximum weight that Robonaut can “squeeze” has increased to 9 kg. For space, it is understandable that such progress is useless, but in the future Robonaut can be used on the ground to eliminate the consequences of a nuclear explosion, for example.
