In 1984, about 1,000 devices were connected to the networks. In 1992, 1,000,000. In 2008, 1,000,000,000.
The speed of connecting devices to a single network is growing exponentially.
A one-week Washington Post newspaper collection contains more information than an 18th-century reader has received in his entire life.
I myself look through an average of 100 to 400 pages of information per day, of which I read 50-70 percent.
In any educational institution, all the knowledge that is given to us is already out of date. And all innovations in the first year of study, by the end of training, become obsolete and replaced with new ones.
Life began to resemble a maelstrom of events. We are literally flooded with a stream of information.
This is the second global flood.
It is impossible to isolate oneself from this - this will be tantamount to a solitary cell, in which water undermines the walls. You hear that something is happening outside, you are bored and curious. And as soon as one small brook seeps in, the walls break, and we are carried away by this stream.
And it turns out that the most important thing in the modern world is to join the stream that bears the foundation of our life and to form the flows of our interests around.
And do not choke.
But, unfortunately, not everyone finds their streams. Such units. The rest float in other streams and drown in them.
So it turns out that it is not they who choose the flows, but the flows that select them. They give them food and receive nothing in return.
