Intel office
Just the other day I entered the Moscow office of Intel. Being with a photo gun, I took a couple of shots.

I just showed the film, printed the pictures;) I invite the most curious to view.
The company’s office is located in the very west of Moscow, in the Krylatsky Hills business park, which is located on the territory of the Moskvoretsky natural-historical park (one of the largest natural parks in the capital, where several territories are united into a single whole - the Moskva River Valley) . If you look at the map and find the Krylatskoye metro there, thoughts involuntarily arise, “ mde, something is far from the center"- I myself thought about this when I first went to those parts) However, the place was chosen quite successfully - it’s easy to get out of the interchanges from anywhere, including to the center. Those who ride "on their own two" at the metro station are always waiting for free minibuses that go directly to the business center. It is especially beautiful there in the summer, when green grass grows everywhere and the atmosphere as a whole is not at all like the bustle that is happening in the rest of the aisles of the Moscow Ring Road.
Intel has occupied several floors of one of the glass buildings (Earth) of the business center. There are four buildings in total and they are referred to as Water, Flame, Air and Earth - this, apparently, resulted in the excessive enthusiasm of the chief designer for RPG-shkami)

In the neighborhood are Microsoft, Cisco, Huawei, Johnson & Johnson and others.

It all starts with paranoia at the entrance - each visitor is given a plastic Visitor card, which must be returned at the exit.

It is necessary to pay tribute - the guard knows its job. At least, when I saw me with a camera, I had to tell who I was, where and why) And only after they met me “on the other side”, we were given safety training and were allowed to take only certain angles. In particular, it turned out that it is impossible to photograph employees without their consent, working monitors and any documents, as well as all sorts of doors, cameras and other little things. Nevertheless, it was possible to leak out, but do not be surprised that all monitors are turned off and there is almost nobody on the frames — only those couple of people who agreed to distract from work and whom I forced “to pretend” in front of the camera) I hope for your understanding.
The metal doors of a huge elevator open almost in front of the reception: You

can’t

get anywhere else - you can either wait for an escort in soft leather chairs: ... or learn about the achievements of the company:

As you can already partially notice, almost the entire workspace is divided into small “cabinets” that are correctly call "cubes."

A cube is a part of space limited by artificial partitions that do not reach the ceiling. However, here is a note from Wikipedia) By the way, this term, apparently, was coined just by Intel, though in the main office, which is located in Santa Clara (California, USA). And such a structure is the same for all offices of the company.
What are the advantages of such a solution? In my opinion, they are as follows:
- Allows you to resolve the issue of "confidentiality" of each employee;
- Each employee has his own “small office”, which can be equipped as you wish;
- This situation allows you not to be distracted by the outside world and other employees;
- More rational use of the free space of the building (subject to the norms);
- Less noise.
Accordingly, the workplace of each employee is purely individual - for someone everything is glued with posters and slippers are hidden under the table, and someone has a whole collection of mugs so that every day you can drink from a new one)
But there are also disadvantages - at least I got lost almost instantly in this maze) Well, it does happen, I want to talk with colleagues, to participate in a “collective mind”. But it can be the other way around as a plus, if collective work is not required - everyone can focus on work and do more. In general, it did not work - I do not know.
For example, the workplace of Vlad Nikonov, one of the company's specialists:

The workplace of a manager is no different from the workplace of a regular hard worker, whether it be a programmer or a technical specialist. No personal accounts and even secretaries are all equal :)
Sometimes various seminars, trainings and other similar events are held - special rooms are allocated for them, equipped with speakerphones, projectors and a huge number of chairs.

When I wandered around the office, the noise level was at a comfortable level - apparently, it affects the fact that no one is chatting, the music is listening on headphones, and the servers and other buzzers are far from working ears) However, there are no restrictions on music and communication.

The office is warm. As for the light - a lot of daylight comes in, because in fact, the building around the perimeter is glass, due to which even greater savings are achieved than simply installing energy-saving light bulbs. Although it was said that in the Nizhny Novgorod office, for example, the whole floor is heated by the heat of the data center - what is also not the saving? )
If you suddenly get tired of the cube, you can get out and work with a beautiful view from the window, fighting off the sun glare on the screen;)

On the one hand, a large parking lot is visible outside the windows, and on the other, a cycle track where you can not only ride, but just walk and chat.
By the way, realizing that for most employees the work is inactive, the management came up with the “10,000 steps” program - each is given a special “pedometer”, and most of those who find it are periodically encouraged. In particular, one of the active participants in this program was the previous president of the company, Steve Chase - after each lunch, he reeled up 10 thousand steps in the parking lot and nearby territories;) Other inquisitive minds found out that 10 thousand steps are “14 times to go for food to the first building and back. " It turns out, by the way, that pregnant girls, young mothers and ... smokers are most likely to care.

Vlad offers his “no-fire” help in the preparation of the annual report :)

I liked a lot of living plants - they are literally on every corner.

Somewhere between workplaces, not far from the entrance, I discovered this kind of art. As it turned out, this is a teamwork - the fruit of the joint efforts of many employees of the company) As regards art, the company periodically hosts photo contests, the best of which decorate different walls.

When during work begins to growl in the stomach, you can look into the kitchen to warm up your appetite with a cup of tea or coffee) After which, eat delicious food in the dining room or cafe located in the business center. A meticulous eye noticed a radio in the kitchen with a “warm tube sound”))

The team consists of unequal percentages M (70%) and F (30%), all young and full of strength) Especially tired sometimes gather in a small rest room, where they fight each other with intellect (in chess), watch movies) or play the guitar Wii or tennis.

All kinds of contacts, classmates and twitter, as far as I know, are not prohibited (although my personal experience shows that it’s best to protect yourself from this at work - in order to increase efficiency), and most employees use Skype and Gtalk as IM tools. Even more - in fact, there are no prohibitions, but sometimes they are born, for good reason. For example, there was a funny story - the birthday of one employee coincided successfully with the arrival of HR from the states to the office. Actually, the new ceiling was successfully flooded with champagne right in front of a foreign guest, after which all the celebrations in the office became extremely sober :)
There is no such thing as work “from call to call” - the main thing is that the work is completed on time. You can appear in the office at any time, even at night (which, incidentally, is used by programmers). The form of clothing is also not critical - you can equally come in a strict suit, and in any jeans-sweatshirts; I was lucky and I met a programmer in white socks and sandals)
In general, as you can see, the company does not scatter money and does not arrange “western window dressing”, does not make pools in executive offices and does not occupy hectares of space that is used in vain - everything is much more modest. Almost all conditions have been created for work, which is ultimately the most important thing - after all, you have to work there and not come to have fun) By the way, judging by some quantities of empty cubes, vacant places are verythere is .

In general, for the umpteenth time I am convinced - it is good where we are not)
Good luck!
