Leap into the unknown

imageThis is Felix Baumgartner. He is about to rise to a height of 120,000 feet (36576 meters) and jump from there. If he succeeds in doing this, he will be the first person to submit to the sound barrier without using a vehicle. Joseph Kittinger helped him to prepare, who in 1960 made a stratospheric jump from a height of 102,800 feet (31,333 meters) - this is a record that has not been beaten for 50 years.

The jump will be completed in April this year. No one can accurately predict how the human body will react to the transition to supersonic speeds, this will truly be a jump into the unknown.
