Debian Etch Support To Be Discontinued February 15, 2010

imageSecurity updates for Debian GNU / Linux codename "Etch" will be discontinued on February 15, 2010. Security updates for Etch have been provided by the Debian team within one year of the release of the new stable Lenny, to give everyone the opportunity to update without haste.
Let me remind you that Debian Etch was released on April 8, 2007, its repositories at that time totaled about 18 thousand packages. In this release, official support for the amd64 architecture first appeared, support for Motorola processors (m68k) was discontinued, and a graphical installer was present. Etch went into oldstable state on February 14, 2009.
