qTrack: the easiest task management system

qTrack: the easiest task management system
Just recently, my colleague asked me (yes, in fact a competitor), whether I know a simple and easy task management system, and in general, what can I advise him. I offered him a system on which I work in my company (if I’m curious, I will tell you later), and which, in fact, we developed. But for his needs, it is somewhat excessive.

I’ll note right away that my friend’s needs are limited to the work of a dozen developers. To draw an analogy - a peer-to-peer company.

And then I recall that I saw something on riw2009, I rummage around in business cards and find a rather interesting and new product. And most importantly, while free. She liked my friend so much that he offered to write in Habr, suddenly someone is also useful.

I will not bore you with copy-paste from their website, I will tell you about my friend’s impressions, and about mine, of course.

The basic idea, and quite common, is that you can sign up for the task of any user who has email. He immediately receives a link where he can go and chat. If communication continues, he changes his password to any convenient for him and he is already a full-fledged user.

Tasks have the ability to attach files, links to which will be received by everyone who is in the copy. The thing is convenient, of course, but the bad thing is that the file cannot be “detached” from the task, for example, if you accidentally enclosed your favorite pwd.txt.

You can keep threads of hidden discussions directly in the task. My friend checked - he speaks very conveniently. It is hidden from the customer to discuss how to culturally explain to him that he is wrong in this case - a sweet deal. The developers boast that no one else has such functionality, and I, in truth, have not seen it.

It is also possible to filter tasks, and set tags for them.

In fact, from the core - this is almost everything. You see for yourself, the system is lightweight and functional for small groups of people. No workflow, no signatures of managers to confirm the task.

Everything is simple and affordable. And most importantly, I don’t know for how long, for free. But during the last 3 months, while it was available to the general public, there was not even a hint that this particular version would be monetized. Why do I speak specifically on this version - because they are going to soon launch more sophisticated options. Let's see what happens.
