Lars Boylesen Appointed as New CEO of Opera

    Opera Software today announced the appointment of 42-year-old Lars Boylesen as the new CEO. He succeeded John Stephenson von Techner, who was one of the founders of the company in 1995 and has been a CEO since then. Jon von Techner will continue to work at Opera.

    Lars Boylesen has extensive experience in the IT and telecommunications industries. He began his career at the Lego Group, also headed the North European and Asian-Pacific markets of Tandberg Data, from 2000 to 2005 he worked at Opera Software as Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing, and in 2005 joined Alcatel-Lucent in as CEO of Scandinavia and the Baltic. Prior to returning to Opera in January 2009, Boylesen served as Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of Opera Software as Commercial Director.

    “I was very glad that I was able to convince Lars to return to the company a year ago. Now I am very pleased to ask him to take the position of CEO, as we continue our growth and global expansion. We have worked closely for many years, and I’m sure that he is a person who can lead Opera to a very bright future, ”said Jon von Techner.

    Boylesen himself says:
