A tale about Petya and Vasya or again about the pros and cons of freelance
In one metropolis, two friends live in neighboring houses - Petya and Vasya. Both programmers, but Petya works in the office of the company, and Vasya is freelancing.
On Monday, as always, Petya got up at 6-30 in the morning to catch a job at 9 in the city center. He really wanted to sleep, last night he and Vasya drank beer late, but were fined for being late at work. At 8-55, making his way through the snowdrifts and traffic jams, the angry and sleepy Petya runs into the office. Vasya at this time only wakes up. Exactly in 10 minutes he will get up and in 7 seconds will reach his workplace. Petya is envious - he spends on the road from 1 to 2 hours and the same amount back.
While Vasya scans the mail yawning, his boss yells at Petya. Colleague Natasha smiles maliciously. Petya again envies his friend - Vasya does not have a fool-boss, quarrelsome colleagues and stupid corporate rules.
At 12, Petya suddenly went off the monitor. He sent a request to the system administrator and left for lunch. When he returned, everything worked. Around the same time, the monitor went out and Vasya. He tried to fix it himself, but could not. He called Petya for consultation, but Petya did not help, saying that he had the same problem, but the system administrator solved it. Vasya had to carry the monitor to the workshop and pay money to the master for the repair.
On Tuesday, Petya quickly completed his current job and played chess online with Vasya for half a day. While Petya was playing, his salary continued to be charged. Vasya sat down to write code after chess. Vasya receives money for real work, and not for working hours from 9 to 18.
In the evening, friends went to a bar. We drank a bottle of beer and ... the mood improved. A fascinating conversation about women went. But then a client called Vasya on his cell phone and said that his site had fallen. Vasya was a responsible freelancer, so he began to advise the client for a long and tedious period. The conversation of friends was unceremoniously interrupted and ... the mood worsened.
On Wednesday, Petya and Vasya became very ill, as on the evening of the previous day they had drunk cold beer. Petya took a paid sick leave, and Vasya was ill at his own expense. His colleague Vova worked for Petya, but there was no one to work for Vasya. He thwarted the terms of the project and he was not paid money. Vasya was lying under a duvet, sad and envied Petya.
By Saturday, friends had recovered. Petya called Vasya to bowling - to drink beer, to roll balls. Vasya really wanted to go, he hadn’t rolled balls for so long. But he was a disciplined freelancer, so he said: Sorry, friend, I can’t. I have to work, catch up for the time that I was sick. Yes, and I have no money.
Petya was upset and called his colleague Vova to bowling.
The following week, Petina had a corporate party. He had a lot of fun and even improved relations with his pretty colleague Natasha, with whom they danced and kissed in the lobby of the restaurant. Vasya worked all week without getting out of the computer. He made up for what he had lost during his illness and wanted to earn more money on leave. Vasya was overgrown with stubble, did not communicate with anyone, did not meet with the girls and was angry over trifles.
Two weeks later, Petya was sent to a conference of programmers in St. Petersburg. At the expense of the company, of course. It was interesting, Petya learned a lot. Vasya at that time was still earning a vacation and was envious of his friend.
Finally it's vacation time. Petya and Vasya went to rest together in Egypt. While Petya was lying on the beach, Vasya consulted by telephone his client, whose site suddenly fell. The vacation flew quickly, the friends had a good rest and returned to their native Megapolis.
Four days later, Petya received another salary and printed vacation pictures for his grandmother, who lives in the village. Vasina’s grandmother received pictures from her grandson only a month later, because Vasya did not have money to print - he spent everything in Egypt. And Petya was spending vacation time there.
A year later, Petya was promoted to the head of the department, two years later to the head of the department. Now Petya himself does not code, he leads. And Vasya keeps figuring the code himself on freelance.
Now friends do not rest together. Petya travels to the Seychelles with Natasha, and Vasya, as before, spends his vacation in Egypt.
The moral of this tale is this: both on freelance and in office work there are pros and cons.
