Google has opened the source code for Chrome OS. Let me remind you that the presentation of the system took place last night , and the OS is intended primarily for use on mobile devices that are constantly connected to the Internet - netbooks, for example. The core of Chrome OS is the Chrome browser, and the system itself can only launch web applications.
The feature of Chrome OS is speed. The OS boots up in a maximum of seven seconds and is supposedly faster than the latest version of the Chrome browser for Windows or Mac OS. At the same time, the OS stores most of the data on servers on the Web. Only temporary files that are used to speed up the system are stored on the device itself.
Chrome OS supports the fifth version of one of the main markup languages of the Internet, HTML, the WebGL graphic standard, a Flash player and Native Client technology , which is designed to accelerate web applications through direct access to the CPU resources on the user's local computer.
However, it was not without drawbacks. For example, Chrome OS only supports SSD-drives. Fans of mechanics go straight into the "obsolete house". But the processors are supported as x86, and ARM-architecture. The main distribution channel of the system is supposed to be selling netbooks preloaded with Chrome OS. The first samples of such mini-laptops should appear on the market in the third quarter of 2010.
