ViewSonic VOT550 - miniPC with Blu-ray drive

We are used to seeing nettops based on Intel Atom processors. ViewSonic went the other way and presented two full-fledged full-fledged PCs.

Both ViewSonic VOT530 and ViewSonic VOT550 are based on Intel Core 2 Duo with a frequency of 2.2 GHz. The devices are equipped with a Wi-Fi module, 6 USB ports, a network controller, eSATA port and DVI-I output.

The 530th model received 2 GB of RAM and a DVD drive. The 550th ViewSonic boasts 4GB of RAM and a Blu-ray drive.

To a full-fledged PC, these miniPCs lack only graphics. The Intel GM45 chipset has very modest capabilities. It would be much more interesting to see a solution like Nvidia Ion, but alas ... so far this is not possible.

ViewSonic VOT530 sells for $ 749, the VOT550 is two hundred more expensive.

By the way, there is an opinion that miniPC will soon seriously compete with office desktops. Just due to the fact that they consume less energy. As far as you know, in Moscow now, for example, the practice is widespread: they built a business center, you need 200 kilowatts for it, and the city says, here you have 40, save as you want. You want - do not put air conditioners, you want - on the 15th floor on foot, your business. In this case, 1000 working miniPCs instead of 1000 standard desktops is a good solution.
