I do not understand

Today I played with booking.com and decided to poke around the cities of Russia. The result was saddened. Yes, in Moscow and St. Petersburg everything is fine - for a hundred hotels. It seems that even the prices are adequate. But of the remaining cities there are only: Kazan, Kaliningrad, Yekaterinburg, Samara, Sochi and Rostov-on-Don. Well, more satellite cities of Moscow and St. Petersburg appear for mass. And that’s it !!!

Where is the third largest population in Nizhny Novgorod? Where is just Veliky Novgorod and the cities of the Golden Ring? Where are Krasnoyarsk, Novosibirsk, Vladivostok, Irkutsk, Khabarovsk and Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky from Yelizovo? Aw ?! This is for a start.

Is there really no Internet in these cities or are hotels already clogged to the eyeballs for months to come? Or maybe booking.com, as a regional provider, selectively works with hotels on a geographical basis - “Oh, sorry, we have not connected your city yet, but you will leave a request and we will contact you as soon as possible .. . "? I doubt it very much. Also, as I doubt that on other hotel booking sites the situation is any different.

Are the owners of most Russian hotels so far from modern realities that they are not even interested in how it happens in the world with colleagues?

UPD On horse21.ru, however, the situation is much better.
