According to a recent IFPI study, about 40% of Swedes between the ages of 15 and 74 illegally exchange files every day. Conducted using an online survey, the study showed that there are more and more active users of peer-to-peer networks, and today this figure is 2.8 million (a steady increase compared to previous studies).

Without a doubt, Sweden is one of the most actively using p2p technologies in the countries of the world. The constant troubles surrounding the Pirate Bay and other similar resources, coupled with the tremendous success of the Pirate Party, show that in this country there is hardly any one who does not know anything about file-sharing networks. A new study showed the degree of penetration of p2p technology in Sweden, a country with a population of 9.2 million people.

The IFPI report claims 40% of Swedes between the ages of 15 and 74 are involved in illegal file sharing every day. According to the head of IFPI Luis Werner, the figure is "very large", but not surprising.

40% of this population is about 2.8 million people. This figure could have been even greater if the IFPI included Swedish researchers under the age of 15 in researchers.

The unexpectedly high results are also explained by the new data collection method used by IFPI. If earlier such studies were carried out using telephone surveys, then this time the Internet was used for this purpose.

The results obtained are not even close to the results of the study.conducted by SIFO under a contract with the Viasat TV channel: in their opinion, only 11% of Swedes illegally download copyrighted files.

By the way, today the penetration rate of the Internet in the country is 81%, 7.3 users of the World Wide Web account for 9.2 million people. In Russia, this figure is 28%.
