Squeeze will be released by GNU / kFreeBSD

    debian kfreebsd logoOn October 7, 2009, the Debian development team announced that the upcoming release of the distribution, codenamed “Squeeze”, would also be released with a modified FreeBSD kernel for x86 & x86-64 architectures. The team motivated its decision to include the kFreeBSD port in the official ones with a desire to provide a wider selection of cores than there are now. In addition, with the kFreeBSD kernel, it will be possible to use Jail , OpenBSD PF and full-fledged NDIS drivers.
    The Debian GNU port / kFreeBSD is a release of the GNU operating system with the APT package management system and the FreeBSD kernel. The FreeBSD kernel for this version of Debian has been modified to function with the GNU libraries.
