Nokia 5800 (and others on Symbian 9.x) - sync calendar and contacts with Google Calendar and Gmail
I recently got a Nokia 5800 phone and naturally, the first thing I wanted to do was synchronize my contacts. Since I actively use the services of Google, the correspondingly most current contact database is located in Gmail.
It turned out that the phone’s contacts and calendar are easily synchronized with Google through Mail for Exchange, Nokia’s application included in the software bundled with the phone.
Such synchronization can be configured on any Nokia phone on which Mail for Exchange can be installed, these are all phones on Symbian 9.x. You can check whether your model is supported on the Nokia website .
First, Google recommend updating Mail for Exchange to the latest version, we take this program on the Nokia website .
Then we open the program itself, it will offer to fill out a profile. We configure the following parameters.
Connection:
Exchange Server: m.google.com
Secure Connection: Yes
Access Point: Internet
Sync. in romeng: As you wish
. default port: Yes
Uch. data:
Username: Full Google email, for example: jon@gmail.com
Password: Google password
Domain: Leave blank
Next, you need to specify a synchronization schedule, it is divided into two periods - with full load and without load, for which you can set different schedules. For example, during working hours more often than during non-working hours.
Next, you need to specify synchronization settings for the calendar, tasks, contacts and mail. Currently only calendar and contacts are supported. For them, you can specify whether to save existing records in the phone during the first synchronization.
UPD: As The_Alex prompts correctly , By default, MfE sets the “first synchronization” option to “delete items in the phone.” Be careful.
It's all. Then everything is quietly synchronized and even pictures for contacts, which is nice. The application can be closed, it always works in the background.
