W3C Releases Two New Drafts

Today (July 23, 2009) W3C announced the launch of work on two new drafts: the flexible box layout module and the images values module .

The flexible box layout module defines the new keywords 'box' and 'inline-box' for the 'display' property, which indicate that the item should be displayed in a column or row of child items. Additional properties determine the order of the elements (from left to right, from bottom to top, etc.) and how the descendants and the space between them are located. The module is primarily aimed at the implementation of the same height and width of the lines of controls in the GUI.

The image values ​​module determines how other properties can link to images by URL. All properties that take images as values, such as 'background-image' and 'list-style-image', use this syntax. This module can later be combined with the Values ​​and Units module.

Both modules are still at an early stage of development and the timing for their release has not yet been determined, in addition, both modules are marked “medium priority”. You can see the drafts at the following addresses:
