Default avatar? No, QR avatar!
Good day, habrosociety!
Many of you often see on sites (blogs, forums, etc) something like the default avatar. Those. in order not to display emptiness, a certain default image is displayed (with a familiar question, with the figure of a person, with the inscription “I do not have an avatar” - who has enough imagination). For example, here , or here (images were taken randomly from the Google search for the phrase no avatar).
Such avatars either draw themselves or choose from sets of ready-made icons. But, in fact, such an image does not carry any information and simply fills the empty space allocated for the avatar. So why don't we take this place a little differently?
The first thing that occurred to me, and actually the idea that I want to share, is to useQR Code as such a picture. And what to display on it is up to you to decide.
My version turned out like this:
On the avatar, the name and surname of the person is displayed. The output uses the Google Chars API (more details here ).
What ideas do you have for replacing no avatar?
PS I do not claim authorship, but I have never met such an implementation anywhere.
