Great Baikal Trail
How small the world sometimes seems ... A week ago, our colleague and friend from Germany, Frank Fabian, drove into our office. After drinking tea with him and discussing our plans, we shook his hand and said goodbye. The very next day , the first entry appeared on the FACT project blog - the first day in a great adventure, which was started by 35 volunteers from Germany and Russia.
Their goal is to lay the first hiking trail along the northern coast of Lake Baikal, 100 kilometers from the mouth of the Upper Angara to the Khakusa hot springs. Their idea is to open the way to Lake Baikal in a way that it is not yet known either in the world or in Russia.
Having divided into 4 groups under the leadership of the team leaders who have repeatedly visited those places, the participants of the joint Baikalplan projects from Germany and the BBT from Russia will clear the coast of garbage and adapt difficult places for future tourists (the group of Vladimir Hidekil even built a bridge over the Ayaya river). They coordinate all work with the administration of the Barguzinsky Nature Reserve and local authorities.
The adventure has already exceeded its equator, and every day on the project blog there are descriptions of events in two languages. Natasha Luzhkova’s Twitter channel is also available in English - it’s even more interesting to watch the guys on it, because the format of short messages only fits something like “they saw bear tracks again. There are so many! ”
Support our discoverers! Although on the 4th day they met a tourist from South Africa, so they weren’t quite “discoverers” ... But they no less need our support from this :)
