Tux Cake

    I want to share the idea of ​​a cake in the form of a penguin - a Linux mascot. Recently, my husband had a birthday, I wanted to make some unusual cake, I could not find ideas for making a cake in the form of a penguin on the Internet, I had to fantasize a little. Soon the day the system administrator, perhaps this idea will come in handy. The cake is easy to prepare, the main thing is to be patient and buy a good mixer for your wife (mom, girlfriend) :).

    I make the cake three-layer, so first you need to prepare 3 biscuit cakes. You can make a two-layer cake, then you need 2 cakes.

    Ingredients for biscuit:
    4 eggs A
    pinch of salt
    1 cup sugar
    1 cup flour
    1.5 teaspoon baking powder

    Cooking technology (I know there are other ways to cook, but I do it. If you have a biscuit dough recipe that you get - prepare it):
    Beat eggs with salt. Add a glass of sugar, beat until smooth. Add flour mixed with baking powder. Mix everything with a mixer. You can add cocoa to one of the cakes. Cover the bottom of the mold (I have 26 cm, detachable) with baking paper, sprinkle flour on the sides. Lay out the dough.

    Bake at a temperature of 180 degrees, 35-40 minutes. Readiness to check with a toothpick or a match, pierce her dough, if it is dry, then the dough is ready.
    Cakes should be cooled on a lattice or a wooden board covered with a towel, in no case should they be stacked on top of each other.
    I usually make cakes in one day, and collect the cake on another. To prevent the cakes from drying out overnight, I cover them with towels. If the top of the cake or sides hardened, carefully cut off the hardened pieces.
    Each cake needs to be cut horizontally into 2 cake layers, I cut it with a long knife.

    Next, you need to prepare a cream, I make custard, you can cook another.
    Ingredients for the cream:
    4 cups of milk
    2 cups of sugar
    4 eggs
    6 tablespoons of flour

    Cooking technology:
    1) Move 2 cups of milk, eggs and flour with a whisk. As few lumps as possible should remain, the remaining will disperse with further heating.
    2) Combine 2 cups of milk with sugar in a saucepan, bring to a slow boil.
    3) Pour mixture (1) into the boiling mixture (2), bring to a boil, stirring constantly.
    Turn off and do not stop stirring for 5 minutes. The cream is ready, it must be cooled. Vanilla, cocoa, citric acid can be added to the cream.

    Gathering a cake:
    You will need a tray / dish 30x40 cm in size to fit a penguin stencil.
    So, if you had 3 cakes and you cut each of them in half, then you get 6 cakes. 3 of them must be cut in accordance with the stencil. It is a little crooked, because it is drawn by hand, you need to align it when cutting)


    I printed a stencil on the printer, then transferred it to cardboard and cut out the templates. The body of the penguin is a cake, it remains to add paws and a head.

    We spread the penguin's head, torso (whole cake) and paws on a tray. Next, soak the cakes with juice, about 2 teaspoons per 1 cake. Lubricate the cake with cream, especially the seams between the parts of the penguin. We spread a layer of fruit of your choice on top of the cream: currants, raspberries, cherries (cut in half and remove the seeds), strawberries, bananas, kiwi ... Since I got a sweet cream, I picked currants and raspberries.
    On top, lay out another exactly the same layer: cake, impregnation, cream, fruit.
    Next, another layer layer, on top of the cake lay out a little cream, only to keep the fruit. Next is the painstaking work of decorating.


    The black part is black currant, the white part is white currant =). I enlarged the image of the penguin to the size of a cake, printed and cut out patterns: eye, beak, white part of the body and paws.
    I made a beak and legs from marzipan (bought in a store), so I laid them out last.

    Fruits are filled with jelly for a bag of cake. We cool the jelly until it freezes on a spoon removed from it in 5 seconds.
    Fill the parts on which the fruit is laid out with jelly. Spread marzipan on top.
    Next, I prepare the cream from the bag, and decorate the sides of the cake with them. It is advisable to leave the cake overnight in the refrigerator so that it is soaked and tastes better.


    The main thing in the cake is the shape, cakes, cream, you can use any. Enjoy your meal!
