A few hours ago, at www.calend.ru, a new site was launched - the “Events Calendar”. It could be called an update of the "Holiday Calendar", located earlier at the same address, if the additions and adjustments made did not change the project almost completely. That is, it is more correct to say that a new site was made, and the old project was absorbed by it, becoming its (not the largest) part.
Our task was to seriously expand the content, introduce custom functions and create a modern, interesting for a wide audience daily informative magazine with a story about holidays, city days, name days, the dates of the lives of famous people and historical figures, and about all other significant events, the mention of which relevant and interesting in relation to today.
The main thing that has been done:
1. Based on the database on holidays of different countries that we created earlier, we decided to significantly expand the information part and added thousands of articles to city holidays, birthday dates, significant events, birthdays and death of historical figures.
2. We introduced the functionality of the "personal calendar". Registered users can combine their lists of events, both from what is on the site, and adding personal events to them, such as the birthday of their beloved grandmother.
3.A kind of “bridge” from editorial articles about events to users ’personal calendars is those comments, photos and videos for events that were added by users to the site in an open form. These comments are summarized in ribbons and form a kind of collective blog of the event - a holiday, a city day, a name day, etc. ...
