Twitter is the weapon of the opposition

Despite the authorities banning coverage of opposition protests in Iran after the June 12 elections, information about events in the country, photographs, and even videos are still made public. And with maximum efficiency. And the main merit in this belongs to Twitter.

Iranian authorities have banned journalists from taking pictures of opposition activists, limited telecommunications (there are interruptions in the work of mobile operators), jammed (according to BBC) satellite broadcast channels. And, most importantly, access to sites such as the microblogging service Twiitter, the social network Facebook, YouTube video hosting, etc.

But a complete blockade still failed. Apparently, there are clever men and smart women in the country of Iran who quickly find new proxy servers (to replace constantly blocked ones) for access to closed sites. Iran’s microblogging Twitter works with might and main: every minute there are more than 70 posts tagged Iran elections (elections in Iran). Here you will find information and links to the video. It is also interesting that Twitter has almost become a platform where opposition members agree on new promotions and campaign. Up to calls for DDoS attacks on government sites.

Twitter is a revolutionary service. In the truest sense of the word.
