Anti-Pirate Dogs Find DVD by Smell
According to news agencies , the Malaysian police carried out a special operation, in the framework of which a warehouse for pirated disks in the amount of 35,000 pieces was covered. An Irish labrador named Paddy (pictured) helped them in their search. This Malaysian dog has been passed by the MPA. The dog was specially trained to recognize the chemicals that are used in the manufacture of discs.
Apparently, the Motion Picture Association (MPA), which protects the rights of filmmakers, has begun training dogs that can find CDs by smell. And this is only the first precedent, and in the future such dogs may appear in Russia.
Unfortunately, Labrador Paddy is not yet able to distinguish a licensed DVD from a pirated one by smell. But these discs probably smell differently, because they were produced at different plants using different technologies. So service dogs still need to be trained and trained.
