A pair of daggers in the back of paid music services

One of the popular services that allowed you to listen to music online, Last.FM became paid. This is probably known to all interested. When they first announced this, I searched and found them a nice alternative - the service www.spotify.com .

The main barrier to its use is its payment for users from third world countries like Ukraine. Yes, there are opportunities to get registration allegedly from a resident, for example, in the UK, and the price for access to music archives will be only remorse. But the music base, and the quality received in return for the monthly fee, tempted me to buy a subscription for one month.

And then the fun began. Despite the fact that I bought a ticket, I was still referred to second-class people. Every now and then opposite musical compositions flaunted: "This work is currently inaccessible to Ukraine." (He vividly presented the picture when they take me out from the middle of the concert, for example, at the Vienna Opera, because the next piece is not for the ears of Ukrainian citizens.)

Moreover, compositions that I previously had the opportunity to listen to began to be transferred to this category.

The only thing that still keeps me on this service is that at the end of the subscription period I was not blocked access to the service. That is, rather due to a defect in the service itself, I was stuck somewhere in the neutral band, where music from that side is heard, but not all.

Well, I thought, since such a booze has gone, I’ll take a closer look at Last.fm, they even ask for less money: $ 3 versus 9.99 euros. And this morning I discovered that the compositions to which I gave a link in my LJ two weeks ago simply disappeared.

<irony> Undoubtedly, this is a very successful marketing move by copyright holders - to remove or restrict access to broadcast music on the Internet. Now everyone will rush to buy music on discs.

What are the arguments for removing restrictions on online music streaming on the Internet? The quality of the bitrate is enough for the music to buzz in the background of the columns, but far from enough to get real pleasure from the music. To whom quality is not important, and so steals. "I listened - I liked it - I bought an album / went to a concert / recommended" - it is more logical and reliable than "I heard about ... - I took a chance - bought - threw it away." For recyclables are immeasurably greater.

Reread the "Long Tail" or something.
