The first million is always the hardest
We are pleased to announce that in less than a year after the end of closed beta testing, Evernote has more than one million registered users! This is a lot. This, for example, the population of the whole of Chelyabinsk or Rostov-on-Don, and even entire countries such as Qatar, Cyprus or Montenegro. Just think: if all Evernote users stand in a row, it will be a queue of a million people!

We developed Evernote for those who value what they have in mind, for people who need to remember important things at work or school. And we are really glad that there are many people like you to provide us with a fast-growing business.
It took New York 250 years to recruit a million inhabitants. The first million subscribers appeared at MTS in seven years. Twitter got a million followers in about a year and a half. We managed to do it faster.
And we came to this the hard way.
The classic action plan for creating a fast-growing Internet service includes the following steps: (1) make it accessible only through a browser, (2) provide it with social functions, (3) find young people who like to try something new and (4) don't take care of profit. We did everything differently: we developed downloadable applications and did not focus (so far) on social functions, our users are mostly university graduates and professionals, and our business model provides for the project’s profitability not in the very distant future.
So if you are one of thirty people working at Evernote, then thank you for your hard work over the past year! You have made a service that is used by a million people! Is not that great?!
If you are one of a million Evernote users, we can only thank you sincerely for discovering our service and deciding that it will be useful to you. In the near future, we are planning a lot of interesting things that will make your friends envy your “external brain”.
If you are one of six billion six hundred thirty-three million people on this planet, join us, we also have a place for you !
Special thanks I want to say to Russian-speaking users of Evernote, who with such enthusiasm and enthusiasm took our first experience in creating a localized version of the service.
