Asteroid crashing to Earth (HD video sketch)

This video from the Discovery Channel shows a scenario for a 500 km diameter asteroid falling into the Pacific Ocean. I do not want to scare anyone, however, it is alleged that this has happened to our planet at least 6 times!

(I highly recommend turning on HD mode in the player’s window, but it’s better to switch to YouTube itself to view it on a large screen!)

By the way, did you know that the Mayan calendar "ends" in 2012, many in this regard expect another doomsday?

In fact, it is not the calendar that ends, but the so-called Great Cycle. Or "The Fifth Sun" in Mayan terminology lasting 5126 years. The last day of this cycle is December 21, 2012. Then the next one will begin. So don’t worry! :)
