"Grandma-online" - give a computer to every senior citizen!

    I continue to talk about the project "Grandmother-online." This is the second note, and the first one is here: inskin.habrahabr.ru/blog/56358

    In brief, I remind you that the project "Grandmother-online" aims to establish free training for pensioners / veterans / blockers on the basics of working on a computer and on the Internet with a gift of a computer to your home after graduation. A project is being made in St. Petersburg, but in the future - expansion into the regions.

    In total - the work is going on, the technology is being accepted, new classes are planned for the opening, television comes running to us, and there is a need for a little help from volunteers.

    Project Manager Nesterovskaya Asya Konstantinovna - a woman rocket launcher. She is doing everything to knock out at least some kind of financing for the project by the city - the topic is still socially significant. In this regard, television people frequented us for reporting. On April 9, in a class on 104 Nevsky, a contract was solemnly signed between the Association and the Leningrad Blockade on the provision of premises for classes in all areas of the city. In this regard, correspondents from RenTV and STO channels came. Plots have already been shown on TV :)

    April 14 was 10, an anniversary lesson on Nevsky, 104, so Channel One came. They took classes, then went to the office, took something off there, and finally arrived at the workshop, where I and other volunteers collect computers. The workshop also made several notes on how we work there, and drove off demonstratively and beautifully to hand the computer over to the first student who completed the courses. They gave it :)

    On April 16, classes were held in the central office (Admiralteysky district), and the Arutek Computers company also handed over a new computer for the computer class (which came to us, by the way, thanks to that very first post here on the hub). Channel Five came to shoot all this :)

    I’ll post reports a little later, I’ll give a link if anyone is interested to see it. I made a lot of pictures myself, I can also show them :)

    Also, thanks to the post on the hub, we were given about 14 monitors, various small kits, and one system unit. I work in this regard and in other areas.

    In a fit of heart, he also wrote to a multi-thousand-strong person in LJ asking for free PR. I got preliminary consent, a little later we'll see the result.

    However, there is no funding yet, and there is nothing to hire specialists and workers, so for now it’s all on a volunteer basis, and if anyone wants to help a little, we will be happy :)

    What can we help now:
    - you need a man with a laptop and WiMAX to drive up to our workshop and walk around the rooms to check the stability of communications - except for Vanguard, we have nothing there, and Vanguard for organizations will cost a pretty penny;
    - you need a person with a color laser printer (if at work, if you have one, for example) - you need to print 20-30 pieces of A4 advertising booklets to distribute to visitors and potential sponsors;
    - people with vehicles are needed - I don’t have a car, and I have to collect equipment with great difficulty for those who give it. Fortunately, for now, all those who give me away are for some reason within walking and tram reach. At least once a week to call on two or three people, pick up the monitor differently, and throw us at 10 Krasnoarmeyskaya - we will be very grateful.

    In the future, help will be needed:
    - in teaching;
    - in the technical support of the classes - a class is planned even in Kolpino, but you won’t wind up there especially, you will need a person from there;
    - in logistics - organize the export of equipment delivered. If there will be more returns, you will have to think over the optimal routes and coordinate them with people in order to pick them up from several places at a time.

    If the city does provide financing, then there will even be some compensation, but I can’t promise it 100% :)

    Well, traditionally we will be happy with any components - I have a pensioner who even attaches the first pentiums to pensioners who, in addition to riveting pieces of paper, Word'97 doesn't need anything else, not even the Internet :)
