Opera mailer M2, imap and Gmail offline

When properly configured and used, the M2 mailer built into the Opera browser works much more efficiently than PR-enabled Gmail with offline mode (for example, in the form of Google Chrome and Google Gears).
It’s about some features that I’ll try

to explain firstly, we need to configure Google mail using the imap protocol in the m2 mail client

for those who can not do without the Russian manual at all, follow the screenshots below.

Select the menu item TOOLS - Mail and Chat Accounts

    Account Creation Wizard.
    select Email, then click Next>

specify the username and password, as well as
select the type of account - specify IMAP

most often this is enough - Opera itself will indicate the necessary values for the Gmail mail server, but only if you wish, you can manually change the port number for the outgoing mail server from Opera 578 proposed to 465. I

strongly recommend that you check the inbox settings in front of the economy mode.

    note:

if you specify Gmail as the local folder for imap,
then your mail program will only receive letters from incoming mail.
If this is not done, the opera will download a list of all the folders and try to download all the letters indicated in them - this is unfortunately such a glitch in the implementation of the imap protocol allowed by Google.

But this does not stop us, we go to the setting of the amyp folders and turn off the extra folders, I

recommend that you leave only the incoming and necessarily sent folders .
thus the headers of all emails ever sent via jail. And it doesn’t matter which email program you did before.

the next utility opera m2 - contacts for the address book.

For example, clicking on the mailing address, our favorite browser instantly sorts all the correspondence associated with this contact.

it’s even more convenient if you create a contact for which you have specified several email addresses.
additional addresses are indicated in the contact properties in the addresses tab by a simple listing with a comma.

Jimail has a very good search by letter, but in the Opera mailer it is no worse, and taking into account the offline mode of operation, coupled with an instant speed of work is even better.

An example of a search for Opera M2 for the word rapidshare.com in my mail

Example.M2 has a built-in mail filter. We introduce for example rapidshare.com and my opera immediately sorted all the mail in the body of which there are links to the speedshare, given the received and sent mail.

As you know at the moment, one of the main advantages of email clients is the ability to send attachments in the style of added and forgotten, without the painstaking addition of each attachment as is done in web interfaces. In theory, in offline mode, the new jimail becomes a full-fledged client - it is sent and forgotten
but so far it is not :(

in addition, using jimail it is impossible to send EXE files (it does not matter via the web interface or email program) even if the executable is in the jimail ZIP archive doesn’t send such a letter. There’s a solution anyway - packing the EXE into RAR. In this case, everything passes.

Gmail's strong point: the ability to work with your mail from any browser. Opera should naturally be installed on our computer.

On the other hand, Gmail mode offline itself implies working similarly to opera i.e. on your computer where there is access to a limited circle of persons.

    As a result:

If you use a single computer, then any offline mail client will be preferable, but if you constantly have to change computers - the web interface is all of us.

I chose Opera M2 for the jail mail box for myself, although for mail used not daily ... Google Apps steers and beeps.
