Google closes Print Ads

Google continues to get rid of non-core assets, although after closing the Notebook it is already difficult to surprise us with something.

Now it’s the turn of the Print Ads service, which was a project to turn the entire print press into another advertising platform, which is served through the standard Google web interface. Through the auction system, one could buy advertising space in one of 800 American newspapers. The project was very ambitious, but not too realistic. It brought almost no profit, and it was not very comfortable to work in the dying print press market. For all the time of its existence since November 2006, the service has not gained popularity, so it is closed .

Starting February 28, the acceptance of new applications for this program is terminated. Previously submitted ads will be posted until March 31.
