AMD makes the move: Phenom II and Dragon platform

AMD has released a new Phenom II processor.
It is expected that two types of processors of this series will be on sale:
X4 920 - 2.8GHz - $ 235
X4 940 - 3.0GHz - $ 275 The
price and performance of the new processors allows them to take a place between the Intel Core 2 Duo and Core i7, approximately on par with the Q9400.
The processor is based on a 45-nanometer architecture, has a 6-megabyte L3 cache and has a built-in DDR2- and DDR3-compatible memory controller. An undoubted plus is that the processor can be installed on almost any Phenom-compatible motherboard, while the i7 is a completely new platform. (clickable)

The Dragon platform is nothing more than a combination of Phenom II, a motherboard with a 7-series chipset and a fourth-series Radeon GPU. Manufacturers talk about higher system stability compared to Core i7.
