Complete hard drive cleanup. DBAN

Surely you sometimes have to deal with the need to clean your hard drive, for example, before you sell your computer as a used one.
Sometimes, I’m sure, a thought creeps in: “Have I really deleted everything?” Because of my work, this often happens to me: a new person has come, you can give him the computer of some resigned employee. It often happened that the previous owner kept confidential data on the computer - numbers and CVVs of corporate credit cards, employee lists, salaries, and more. Unfortunately, I do not know all the currents of the disk formatting process, but judging by its speed, it does not overwrite the entire contents of the disk. Maybe I'm wrong, but I wanted to be calm.

Rummaging a bit on the Internet, came across an interesting project - Darik's Boot and Nuke (DBAN). The software product is absolutely free.

For me, this was a great solution for preparing disks for future use. DBAN is distributed both in the form of an image for a CD, and as an image for a floppy disk or flash drive.

DBAN loads automatically, and offers automatic or interactive control. In automatic mode, DBAN cleans the contents of all hard drives that it can find in the computer using the DoD Short algorithm. This is an American state standard that guarantees an average degree of protection against data recovery.

In manual mode, there is also the possibility of choosing a cleaning algorithm. There is also the easiest option - to drive a drive with zeros.

With all this, DBAN has a clear non-graphical interface a la “Windows XP Installer”.

PS> I just wanted to share it, I will be glad if it seems necessary to someone.
