In response to the release of nVidia 59-dollar graphics card GeForce 9400 GT, AMD announced the release of two video adapters, which are even cheaper. We are talking about the ATI Radeon HD 4550 and ATI Radeon HD 4350, whose price is $ 55 and $ 39, respectively.
The ATI Radeon HD 4550 will ship with 512 MB of DDR3 video memory, and the HD 4350 will have 256 MB of DDR2 on board. Despite the low cost, the characteristics of video cards are not so bad. Both products support DirectX 10.1, are equipped with HDMI interfaces with support for eight-channel audio (7.1). ATI CrossFireX technology is also supported.
The performance of new products has yet to be verified (soon enough tests will obviously appear). But in theory, the cards should work no slower than the GeForce 9400 GT. Nevertheless, they have 80 stream processors, four texture units, and the memory and processor frequencies are 600/1600 MHz (HD 4550) and 600/1000 MHz (HD 4350). New items on the 55-nm process technology are completed.
It is noteworthy that both cards consume no more than 20 watts.
Budget Radeon's will appear on sale in October.
