Electronic children on billboards react to real airplanes

The other day I read some topic on Habré (alas, I can’t find a search), where the author talked about his passion for aviation and how he admires air traffic. This phrase caught me, but for a slightly different reason. The fact is that a week before that I saw similar news, but from a completely different area - from advertising.

So, imagine you are standing in a traffic jam near the airport. Here is a billboard screen with British Airways advertising. On the screen is a small child and regular advertising text. But as soon as a real plane belonging to British Airways appears in the sky, the on-screen child gets up and points a finger at it. At the same time, a text like “look, this is BA431 flight from Amsterdam” appears on the billboard. Or "Here is a flight to the Maldives, the minimum price for a ticket is so much."

Interestingly, to implement the idea, it was not necessary to fence some very complicated garden. The billboard receives regular updates of flight schedules, data from the transpoder and GPS coordinates of flying aircraft. Well, it starts the video at the right time. It seems like everything is simple, but what an effect!

The authors of the advertising company believe that such advertising should be much more effective than regular. Because “while you are in a traffic jam, someone flies from Amsterdam to Fiji; it cannot but arouse envy and makes you think about a short vacation. ”

In conclusion, a small illustrative video. It is not as interesting as photography, but it perfectly illustrates the principle.
