Working at Google, we spend most of our working time in the browser window. We search, communicate and work together on documents - in a browser. And, like all of you, in our free time we shop, read the news and chat with friends - also in the browser. People spend more and more time on the Internet and do things there that were not even dreamed of at the time of its appearance 15 years ago.
Spending so much time online, we seriously thought about how the browser should look if we created it from scratch from the very best. We understand that the Internet is evolving - it has gone from simple text pages to multifunctional interactive applications. So, you need to radically rethink the essence of the browser. We wanted to get not just a browser, but a modern platform for web pages and applications, and we decided to take up the creation of just such a platform.
So today we are releasing a beta version of the new open source browser: Google Chrome.
We designed the appearance of the browser so that the window was as simple and convenient as possible. Most people are not interested in a browser. It is only a tool for performing important tasks - displaying pages, sites and applications that make up the World Wide Web. Like the classic Google search page, the Google Chrome browser is simple and fast. It helps you get where you want without distracting you.
If you look "under the hood", you can see that we were able to create the core of the browser that runs modern complex web applications much better. By isolating each tab with its own isolated environment, we do not allow one hanging tab to suspend the rest, and also provide additional protection against malicious sites. We have improved overall speed and response to teams. We also created V8, an advanced Javascript engine - it will underpin the next generation of web applications that are not possible in today's browsers.
And this is just the beginning. We released this beta for Windows to hear your opinions and suggestions as soon as possible. We are working on creating versions for Mac and Linux, and we will strive to ensure that Google Chrome becomes faster and more reliable.
We owe a lot to various open source projects, and we are going to adhere to this course. We used, among others, the components of Apple WebKit and Mozilla Firefox, and we also open our source code. We hope that our cooperation with the entire Internet community will help to further develop the Internet.
New inventions enrich the Internet. Google Chrome is another tool, and we hope the internet gets better with it.
But enough stories. Better just try Google Chrome yourself. Download it at www.google.com/chrome
